Plan.

A strategy and a roadmap. What to do, in what order, and what it takes.

What it is

Plan turns findings into a sequence. What gets built first, what waits, what gets bought instead of built, and what gets left alone.

Each item carries an honest effort estimate and the reason it sits where it sits. You should be able to read it and disagree with it, because a plan you cannot argue with is not a plan.

In the People and Culture track, Plan covers the same ground for the people side: who champions the change, what gets measured, and what has to stop.

Who it’s for

  • Growing companies deciding what to fund this year.
  • Larger organizations that need the order of operations settled before anyone starts.

What you walk away with

  • A roadmap with order, effort, and reasoning.
  • A clear split between what we would build, what you should buy, and what needs no software at all.
  • A plan you own. If you take it to someone else to implement, that is fine.

Why John

Both halves of the problem.

John Correia is a professor of management information systems who researches how people actually adopt technology. Seven peer-reviewed papers, in journals including MIS Quarterly, on why people take up a tool or quietly work around it.

He also builds. Dashboards, automations, web apps, and a spatial audio platform taken from an architecture plan to working software. He directs a student consulting group that runs like a small company, which means he spends his week handing work to people who have to run it without him. That is the same problem you have.

Plans that survive contact are plans that write down their trade-offs. His do.

Example

A spatial audio platform that began as a single written plan: the architecture, the order of the phases, and the trade-off accepted at each choice, with the reason. The software followed the plan, and when reality forced a change, the plan was updated in the same commit that changed the code.
